Building Bridges between God and Man

A Correction

Bonnie Morris

First, let me say that when I bring a correction to anyone (even my children when they were little), it is never with any intent of heart to condemn.  It is always laced with gentleness and the intent of heart that we may grow into that perfect man together.

There is a horrible teaching going around the body of Christ.  It is so horrible, I feel pressed to offer the following:

Everything is upheld by the word of His power!  God has integrity!  We often don’t think of God concerning integrity.  But God is not a man that He should lie.  He does not sin by transgressing His own law.  I submit to you that if He did, this entire universe would collapse.  If He broke His word, nothing would be upheld; He would be powerless.

Everything, everything we think needs to be submitted to the word of God for correction, for instruction in righteousness so that we may rightly divide what we think is true.  I often ask God: “What do I believe that is not true”.  Oh, how He loves to answer that heart’s plea!!!

Think about this:

Does the word of God protect us?

Psalms 91: 4 His truth shall be thy shield and buckler…

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.   Add not to His words, lest He reprove you and you be found a liar.

Does the word of God keep us from falling?

Psalms 119:105 Thy WORD is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Job 4:4 Thy (speaking of Job) words have upholden him that was falling… if Jobs words kept people from falling, it is safe to say that God’s words do too and it was God’s word in Job’s mouth.  This is simple deduction as man’s words do not have the same ability/power.

Jude 4:4 Now, unto Him that is able to keep you from falling… We know He uses His word to do that.

What does a hedge do?  A hedge protects us and keeps us from falling.  God’s word is a hedge.

The teaching that pains me says that God did NOT put a hedge around Adam; that God broke His own law and therefore He HAD to pay for Adam’s sin, because the law says that anyone who builds a house and doesn’t put a hedge around the rooftop and someone falls off and dies, then the owner of the house has to pay with his life… a life for a life.

Since God created us, He owns us.  We are the house that God built, therefore He owns us!  I agree with that.  But I strongly disagree that God did NOT put a hedge around Adam.  He gave Adam His word.  “DO NOT EAT”.  This was God’s word to Adam; this was God’s hedge (protection to keep him from falling).

You have heard it said that rules are made to be broken, but I say that rules are made to be kept.  Can you quite imagine that a mother would tell her children that one of their chores every morning is to make their bed; it is the rule of the house, all the while she never intends for them to make their bed.  Ridiculous!  You would never know what she really wanted.  You couldn’t trust her.  You couldn’t trust that she means what she says.

Yet, we would ascribe this very idea to God.  We assume way too many things about God’s nature; things that we don’t stop to hear ourselves and what it is that we are really saying about Him.  Pay attention! Don’t be stupid!  (This may sound harsh, but it is what He said to me! So, I sucked it up!)

Let me straighten out this mess with His word…that which upholds everything…

First off, let’s get this understood.  God so LOVED… He gave His only begotten Son.  The word of God says so! It does not say that He got Himself in a position of having to pay up.

Secondly, God did not break His own law!  Do you realize if we believe this, we are saying that God SINNED.  Perish the thought!  Literally…perish the thought, for that is all it is: a carnal, unbelieving THOUGHT.  God is not a man that He should lie or repent of sin.

Now, I know why man has taught this!  He doesn’t have the answer to “the freedom of choice” question.  But, I do.  Why do I have this answer?  Because God gave it to me by revelation.  Now, I don’t boast of having 100’s of revelations.  But I do have a few and God has made it painfully clear to me that it is my responsibility to add my part to revealing the Christ within.   He said it to me this way: “Are you going to share the revelations I give you or shall I stop revelating you?”  Now, I know revelating isn’t a word to us…but that’s what He said.  I don’t put words in God’s mouth; it is the other way around.

It was my lot in life to question everything!  I was attending an Assemblies of God church in the 80’s and I went to the man who was the pastor at the time to ask him if God hardened Pharoah’s heart.  He said to me, “Bonnie, you sure have a lot of questions!  Now, if we can only find a man with the answers.”…  It was not too long after this, that I was attending a conference in Oklahoma and the speaker called me to the front.  She prophesied this over me: “Questions, questions!  The Lord says “Questions, questions, questions!!! God says you have so many questions and He wants you to know that one day you will discover that He has answered every one of them.” Well, God did exactly that!!!

What He gave me answered the question about the freedom of choice.  But, more than that, it also answered every other question that I had at the time.  Now, when the Lord prophesied this to me, I never realized what He meant was a literal ONE day…all at once.  But, this is what is so profound about God.  He is able to go between the scales in our thinking (that old Leviathan) and pierce the lies and bring His marvelous truth to light. With a single blow.  He does it so beautifully. None can compare.

I say to you… ask questions, pay attention, do not be stupid!

Come and reason with Him.  You will notice in this particular scripture, after the statement, “Come and let us reason together”, Jesus is the only one doing any talking.  So, I could say, “Ask questions, pay attention, SHUT UP, do not be stupid!  Listen and learn!

One cannot straighten out the nature of God in their understanding without getting the beginning right…the Genesis!  There is a consistency in the nature of God.  When we get this right, the ability to SEE with wisdom and understanding becomes second nature: HIS… Genesis to Revelation, He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

So, what was the revelation He gave me?  For that, go to the article “WHAT ABOUT THIS”.

fyi…

The steps of the righteous are ordered of the Lord are the steps found in The Revelation ch.7:

The blessings of the tribes of Israel.  12 in all as these steps when complete in us, represents the government of God.  The steps of the righteous are ordered of the Lord.  What a God!
