SO GREAT A FAITH
By Bonnie Morris
There came a time when walking with God changed. What happened to that still small voice we always heard? You know, “hear and obey”! Where was that “anointing” and the flow of the gifts we had experienced since Pentecost? God, where are you became the voice in our heads as we gained more and more understanding of tabernacles; 3rd day perfection. Seems God is missing all too often! Those old ways had become distant to say the least!
And there was great reaction. Some lost their way! It began subtly. You know, you began to see that you had to get rid of that “old way of thinking”… “New wine required new wineskin”. “The scriptures are not the word of God!” “Don’t judge anything! After all, God gave all judgment to the Son and the Son said he judges no man.” “We are ascending, so open up your mind to whatever the truth really is! You know, the higher consciousness of this new thing God is doing in our midst.” “We all chose what we were to be before we came to earth”. “People who are not in the church are more loving”, and the list goes on and on…
1.As for getting rid of the old way of thinking (all the old consciousness)… Haven’t we had the mind of Christ? Scripture says to hold fast to that which is good. Passing through Passover and Pentecost brought us many good truths. Should we throw the baby out with the bath water?
It is true that we entered into a new dimension in God when we came into the realm of Tabernacles. However, the scriptures should have become even more valuable to us and our faith should have reached for them even more deeply.
2. Not the word of God? The word scripture means “authoritative writings”… Our authority comes from the scriptures themselves. Did not our Lord say over and over… “It is written”? He said of the centurion, “I have not seen SO GREAT A FAITH”… The centurion exemplified a great faith when he told the Lord “to speak the WORD ONLY”…. The centurion was saying to Jesus…”I’ll believe your word”! The realm of greatest faith is the realm of Tabernacles. The enemy of our souls is after our faith for when Jesus was asked, “What are the works of God”, he answered, “to believe”. Obviously, there are realms of faith for Jesus said the centurion had “great” faith. Let’s look at what the scripture says about itself being the word of God.
John 5: 45-47 What! Do you think that I will accuse you before the Father; there is one who will accuse you, even Moses, in whom you trust. For if you had believed in Moses, you would also have believed in me; for Moses WROTE concerning me. If you do not believe his WRITINGS, how then can you believe my words? Obviously, Jesus was speaking to them of that which was written. They didn’t have the NEW COVENANT written then, but we do now. I dare say that if Jesus were to speak to the church today…he would say “If you do not believe Moses’s writings, you will not believe John’s either.
Jesus said “my words are Spirit and they are Life”. There is a gross error about the letter and the spirit concerning the scripture. Many were taught that the writings of scripture, the words on the paper are “the letter”… NO, a thousand times, NO… The Old Covenant is the letter… The New Covenant is the Spirit. Truly, if we read the New Covenant with an Old Covenant heart, it will be law to us. This only creates a dead religion instead of a living relationship. But what I am hoping we see is that there is a realm where the New Covenant IS Spirit, period! It takes a “great faith” to walk in “IT IS WRITTEN”. This is the VISION of the sons of God that the Lord began teaching me over 2 years ago. I had been unable at that time to say anything as I did not come into the understanding very quickly. It has challenged my thinking for many, many months. This faith, I believe, fits in Tabernacles. This, I believe, is why we couldn’t walk the same way we did in Pentecost …hearing! AND …obeying! This is why we follow the Spirit differently now! His word is Spirit and it requires FAITH… believing Him! Some have walked this way and not even realized how great a faith they have. Passover: We listened to Jesus, mostly through pastors… Pentecost: We listened to Holy Spirit… Tabernacles: We listen to the word made Spirit …knowing God, our Father! For God is Spirit! No hand holding here… Only grown men and women of God.
More scripture concerning the scriptures being the word of God…
John 8:42-43 JESUS said to them, If God were your Father, you would love me, for I proceeded and came from God; I did not come of my own accord, but He sent me. Why therefore do you not understand MY WORD … Jesus has a word!!! He went on to say… Because you cannot OBEY MY WORD! Today, His word is written for us.
John 8: 55b Jesus said “I obey His word” (meaning His Father’s)! Psalms 119: 97 Oh, how love I thy law. (In context, you will see this is referring to Jesus as this Psalms goes on to say that the one speaking refrained his foot from every evil way. This had to be Jesus for no other man ever achieved refraining his foot from every evil way. Jesus studied God’s word / scriptures and who he was in them. He grew in wisdom and stature!
John 8: 31 Then JESUS said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you abide by my word, you are truly my disciples”. Some contend that everywhere it says word, it means Jesus… well, this is Jesus speaking… It would have had to say, If you abide by me, you are truly my disciples … He was speaking of that which he says…what He says is now written down… the New Covenant is God’s word. For Jesus said only what the Father said. His word IS Spirit… only it requires FAITH. I’ve had to reach for that faith; it has truly challenged my walk with God. I meditate and meditate on this as this is how I want to walk daily: a light unto my path! Since coming into this, I find that same holiness of heart that I had enjoyed in God during Pentecost. (This is hard to describe, but it is that same knowing that God is, that same God is not missing anymore. Of course, we know He never was but sometimes it felt like it. An emptiness was filled that came when He told us to “come up hither” and not with New Age or some other gospel if you will let me put it that way.) I know that waiting became difficult, but then that was the test, was it not? Trust His word when you don’t FEEL that anointing… Sad to say, but some went seeking to fill that void with another gospel, an angel of light!
John 4:41 And a great many believed in him because of his word… today this word is written!
John 3: 34 For he (JESUS) whom God has sent speaks the WORDS OF GOD; for God did not give the Spirit by measure. Today, this word is written. We are to believe it, not wait for a voice like a teen-ager needing instruction. We already believe, therefore we speak.
John 10:34-35 Jesus is speaking. Is it not so WRITTEN in your law, I said, you are gods? If he called them gods because the word of God was with them (and the scripture cannot be broken)… This is so plain! Jesus is calling scripture the word of God!
What I am speaking of is a Person walking in us/as us, who identifies in every way with us, who wrote to us through inspired men and women of old concerning Himself. Somewhere the written word becomes more than words on the paper; it becomes alive, almost I can say for myself, it is RHEMA…the word becomes Word, finally! I find myself challenged to walk in the reality of this. No, I’m not completely there but this understanding has certainly deepened my respect and love for Him and I am pressing forward. How can we call things that be not as though they were if whatever I am calling forth is not RHEMA? Simply put, walking or living by faith is living or acting as though God’s word is true NOW, (I AM). You see, even now I struggle to explain it fully as it is so powerful. It will take a while to fully grasp it. How can one possibly say they love Him and not be utterly, head over heels in love with the written word, for it is what speaks of HIM?
I gave you 7 scriptures out of JUST one book of the bible. I could give you dozens and dozens more that prove the scriptures are the word of God. You can debate about contradictions and original manuscripts all you want. That debate only weakens your faith. But as you allow the truth to settle in, this is indeed, that the scriptures are the word of God to our souls, any discrepancy pales in comparison to the faith that arises for your daily walk in Christ. Speak Christ, speak the word… you’ll see!
3.Don’t judge anything… We have to preface this with some remarks. Truly, there has been unrighteous judgment in Christianity (and the world for that matter)… Judgment is a tough subject…and it IS tough because of immaturity. No one wants to be misjudged and I suspect that we all have been! The reason is that no one knows anything about properly judging so they discount the entire principle and yet it is one of the 7 basic pillars of wisdom. It is a part of God’s nature. It’s just that His judgment does not look at all the way man has painted it. Man has always attached damnation and dictatorship to it. But God’s judgment is a part of His service to us; it’s just and sets people free. In this arena, man again maligned God by making God in his own image.
I attended many churches which judged wrongly. I attended one church that did not judge at all. Both were extreme positions and I saw the fruit of both. One was full of religion and the other was full of known sin.
So, balance is the requirement of this subject. Let me say this: I don’t believe that any of us are fully equipped to judge; however, the sons will grow to see him as he is for they shall be like him…so how is HE when it comes to judging? What does the scripture say?
John 5:30 Jesus speaking: “I can do nothing of myself: but as I hear I judge, and my judgment is just; for I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me.”
John 7:24 Jesus speaking to the people: “Do not judge by partiality, but judge a just judgment. (When scripture is speaking of the hypocrites, it tells people to NOT judge at all.) But here, Jesus is telling people HOW to judge!
John 8:15-16 Jesus speaking to the people: You judge according to the flesh; but I judge no man… obviously he is saying that he judges no man after the flesh… for he goes on to say… And if I should judge, my judgment is true; because I am not doing it alone, but I and my Father who sent me. For the Father gave all judgment to the Son. John 5:22
John 8:26 I have many things to say AND to judge concerning you; but he who sent me is true; and I speak in the world only those things which I have heard from Him.
John 12:46-48 Jesus is speaking of our stewardship during our life here on earth and says: “I have come into the world as the light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness. And he who hears my words, and does not obey them, I will not judge him; for I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He who oppresses me and does not receive MY WORDS, (notice the S) there is one who will judge him; the word which I have spoken, it will judge him at the last day.
It is important to always understand scripture in the context to which it is written. What is the subject is a good question to always ask yourself. In the above passage, the subject is last day stewardship… But if his WORDS will judge us, then, how important is it that we understand that the scriptures are His word. They are Spirit … follow the Spirit… have the greatest faith developed in you. Act on His word even as the centurion… You may say but, but, but… No! No buts!
AGAIN, today, His words are written … Believe them? It has been my experience that when we believe something, we act on it. ???
I gave you 6 scriptures from JUST the book of John that proves that Jesus judged; that he gave us instructions on how to judge and that his words would be the judge in the hereafter… ONE book! My, my, my … There are literally dozens more.
4.New thing? Higher consciousness? Higher carnal thinking, perhaps!? Ascending? Where does this lead? Where is it in the word of God? Why would anyone who knows the Lord, try to achieve now, by works, that which God has already given us? Ascend? Doesn’t the word of God say that we are already seated with Him in heavenly places? Does not the word of God say we are in the resurrection, as He IS the resurrection? Can you actually get any “higher” than that? Don’t we have the mind of Christ (which is Spirit)… Is the problem in one’s mind, unbelief in the word of God? Does this doctrine bring one closer to creation or the Creator? Does higher consciousness mean the mind of Christ…not according to those participating in the New Age…for they report that their effort is quote: “the recognition of interconnection between ourselves and our WORLD”. Didn’t Jesus say that His Kingdom is NOT of this world and that if you are not for Me, you are against Me? What does their way of thinking cause one to continually think upon? Oneself or Him? Isn’t there a difference in a personal God who dwelt among us and this “Being, Awareness, and Bliss” (which is to say, a Hindu conception of God as an impersonal, infinite consciousness and force which they readily admit? Beloved, are we to believe every spirit, as if every spirit is from God??? Did you know the same spirit was there in the days of Martin Luther and the reformation? Did you know that Luther reports that people began to listen to seducing spirits and the result was that they lost faith in the scriptures being the word of God? The true litmus, does it make Jesus bigger or smaller!?
5.Did we really choose in heaven who we would be in the earth before we came to our natural birth?
John 3: 28-31 This is John the Baptist speaking. “You yourselves bear me witness that I said, I am not the Christ, but only a messenger to go before him. He who has a bride is the bridegroom; and the best man of the bridegroom is he who stands up and listens to him, and rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice; this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must become greater and I lesser. For he who has come from above is above all; and he who is of the earth is of the earth, and he speaks of earthly things; but he who has come from heaven is above all.
Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed Adam out of the soil of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living being.
1 Corinthians 15:47-49 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy; and as is the heavenly such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
Notice: It is first the NATURAL and THEN the SPIRITUAL…
John 14: 26 But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom my Father will send in my name will teach you everything, and remind you of everything… (I believe here is where most people stop… but John goes on to say something else) “everything …which I tell you”. He was speaking of bringing into remembrance everything he was telling them. Those who believe they chose their life before they came to earth have thought that he would bring into remembrance their time in heaven with Him.
Quote: “MEMORY genes account for some thoughts… New research from Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, has shown that it is possible for some information to be inherited biologically through chemical changes that occur in DNA. During the tests they learned that mice can pass on learned information about traumatic or stressful experiences – in this case a fear of the smell of cherry blossom – to subsequent generations.
According to the Telegraph, Dr. Brian Dias, from the department of psychiatry at Emory University, said: “From a translational perspective, our results allow us to appreciate how the experiences of a parent, before even conceiving offspring, markedly influence both structure and function in the nervous system of subsequent generations.
Such a phenomenon may contribute to the etiology and potential intergenerational transmission of risk for neuropsychiatric disorders such as phobias, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.”
This suggests that experiences are somehow transferred from the brain into the genome, allowing them to be passed on to later generations.” End quote
6.In closing, I would like to address what I have learned about people, in and out of the church.
I spent 18 years participating in the visible church. During that time, I travelled in ministry for 5 years as an evangelist. I ministered 5 hour seminars in main line denominational churches and taught an adult Sunday school class for the church I attended. I found hypocrites, sin, and hurting people. My pastor was very loving to me until the Lord spoke to me and told me to leave. What I experienced in this scene was “task-oriented” relationships. When I left, I discovered I had no friends in the church. No one ever visited or even called to see how I was doing. Did I reach out to them? No; it was painfully obvious that I was not welcomed by any. Shortly after this, my husband, my twin sister and I rented 5 homes for the needs of the community. For approximately 7 years, we housed, fed, jobbed and preached the gospel to whomever came by. I found hypocrites, sin, and hurting people. What I experienced in this scene was “task-oriented” relationships. When we closed those facilities, my husband, my sister and 2 couples remained friends.
I said all that to say this…wherever we go, people are the same, whether in religion or the world. Hook up with a task and things are fine until you decide to do something different. People will seem so loving and kind until you share the true gospel. Only in the true gospel will you ever find authentic people-oriented relationships, where no one is dominated or controlled by a hierarchy.
If you don’t believe this, just tell someone who doesn’t want Jesus for who he really is… You know, “there is NO WAY to the Father except by Me! Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin! A life for a life! The bible is the word of God! I am the Lord’s Christ! Nothing more, nothing less! Go ahead, tell them, most will turn their back on you with little hints of “you may not be happy here” or you may get the left foot of fellowship quicker than you can say jack rabbit. Or some even say, we have outgrown that, suggesting another gospel.
But, one thing is for sure… people are the same everywhere!
So, what is the end results of believing in the aforementioned false doctrines…?
I can only say this, “it won’t look much like the gospel of Jesus Christ”…
All verses are from the Aramaic translation of the bible.
